Often times, we receive a call from a friend or former client regarding a legal issue that we don't handle. When this occurs, we pride ourselves on making reliable and knowledgeable referrals to other attorneys. Whether you are a client or not, the attorneys at our office can review your policy for free to determine if you are carrying the coverages you need most. Many insurance agents are uneducated about the legal reasons for wanting certain coverages, or may point you to coverages with higher profit margins or commissions rather than to point you to what coverages you really need. As the month has progressed, we continue to add the finishing touches to our new office space and the feedback from most of you has been extremely helpful! Our personal hands on approach with our cases has kept the renovations on the back burner, but we hope to have all upgrades completed by the end of the summer. We have several trials set to go early this fall, so if we don't get it done by then it may not be done until next year!

Gandy Fatality

I have to say, I drive through this intersection everyday and have always avoided making the left turn across Gandy. Coming from the opposite direction of this driver, there is a left turn arrow for drivers to wait for, but not for those facing eastbound. Perhaps this tragic event will get the city to reconsider the design of this intersection.

This is why so many bikers still wear helmets. No matter how good, how experienced, or how safe a biker you are, you cannot always avoid poor decisions made by bad drivers. While we are on the subject, as a biker make sure you get UM coverage and med pay coverage. PIP does not apply to motorcycles and if you don't have health insurance this may be the only way your bills will get covered.

Back from Houston

A long day got longer when my flight from Houston back to Tampa got delayed by over an hour. A trip to Houston was necessary to take the deposition of a defendant truck driver in a case where he merged into our client on the interstate with his 18 wheeler. The carrier has defended the case on the grounds that our client was driving in the drivers blind spot. Tractor trailer cases fall under the same category as auto accidents, but fatalities are much more common due to the mass and weight of the vehicles.

As we move into July, the firm has completed its relocation. We are now located on 4th street north close to the bridges. Our new office suite is over 4000 square feet and has multiple conference rooms for hosting mediations and on site depositions.
